Cameron Bancroft strengthened his case for selection should an opening slot become available in the Australian Test team with a spectacular unbeaten 176 as Western Australia marched towards a big win over Tasmania. At Stumps on the third day at the Bellerive Oval, Western Australia were two wickets away from completing a massive victory. Bancroft batted 280 balls for his big innings and put on 147 with Teague Wyllie for the second wicket. Wyllie himself scored a patient 80 as WA continued to bury their hosts under a mountain of runs. Aaron Hardie added a breezy unbeaten 58 before Western Australia declared their second innings at 372/3 with an overall lead of 503 runs.
